Welcome to Third Grade!!
Our year has gotten off to a great start! We have been so busy. I'm having a great time getting to know the students. The kids are great! Here is a little information to get the year started.
Back to school classroom information
School Day: 8:15-3:15! Students may enter the building at 8:10.
Parent Communication-Blog
· I wlll communicate mainly through this blog and emails. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or are wondering why something is happening, please feel free to call or email me anytime during the school year. My email address is: gbecthold@mountvernon.k12.ia.us
Homework
- On Fridays, you will receive the spelling list for the following week (pretest). It will be on the back of the weekly spelling test given on Friday morning. There will also be a double-sided sheet sent home with suggestions for spelling practice. The other side will share skills, stories and lessons we will complete the following week. This gives you an idea of what we will work on the next week.
- From time to time there might be math homework as well, depending on the skill we are learning. This would be sent with the purpose of practicing a skill will are currently working.
After School Plans
· If your child’s usual end of the day plan happens to be different on a particular day, please send a note or call the elementary office. (i.e. riding the bus home with a friend).
Snack (optional)
- Third graders will eat lunch from 12:40-1:00 each day, this is a long time after most students have eaten breakfast. Students in our classroom will be allowed to bring an individual snack to be eaten in the morning. This snack is optional and will not be provided by the school. Please make sure if you child is bringing a snack that it is a light healthy choice. No chips or candy please.
Other Information
- P.B.I.S. is our “positive behavior” system being implemented building-wide. As the year begins, every student will know about expected behaviors in all common areas of the school. Listen for comments from your child. They may be recognized with a “ticket” as they show positive behaviors that will be celebrated!
