Week of August 31

We had a wonderful first week of school last week!  We are going to have a great year.  This is a great group of kids!  I'm so excited to have them in my class.  Here are a few reminders and upcoming events.  If you have any questions please feel free to email.

  • If you haven't yet returned the transportation form(or other papers) from the meet and greet please do so ASAP.
  • The kids brought home the spelling words last Friday.  We will take spelling tests on Friday as well as the Pretest for the next week.  I will always highlight the words they should study for the following week.  If they get 100% on the pretest I will have them study a different set of words.
  • Last week we spent much of the time assessing and getting to know each other.  I know the students came home tired at the end of the week.  This week will be more routine as we get started with the curriculum in all the core subjects.
  • Please make sure you read the WE news each week with other events that may not be mentioned on my blog  http://www.mountvernon.k12.ia.us/washington-elementary.html

Upcoming events:
  • Sept. 7th-Labor Day-no school
  • Sept. 9th-School pictures at the Elementary
  • Sept. 16th-Early dismissal
